A glitch in the time machine caused a serious physical injury on Hector. But this doesn't stop him to continue to push on the development of Perry's machine, and it paid off as the machine worked and managed to get his wife.

As a consequence on Perry's failures and the damage it made on Hector's face, Perry was forced to wear the high-tech armor against Kapitan Boom.
